Maybe it’s only been a few weeks since your loss.
Maybe it’s been months, or even years.
When you least expect it, it’s there: the intense, deep feeling of grief.
It can feel like an explosion of emotion, firey and intense. It might feel cold and dense. It might be more like a whisper that comes seemingly out of nowhere, but takes your breath away.
However you experience grief, your feelings are normal and valid. It might change over time, but one thing is certain. It affects who you are, and who you will become.
The good news is that God can transform your grief. There is hope that comes only from Him. He wants to bring healing to you, and to allow you to remember your loved one with joy.
As Catholics we celebrate a special connection with Mary, the Mother of Jesus who is also the Mother of Sorrows and Our Lady of Hope. She was a human mother who experienced the deep sorrow of losing her beloved child. She can accompany us in our grief journey and inspire us to turn to God as we reflect on our loss and move towards recovery.
All are welcome to join us at St. Paul of the Cross Passionist Retreat Center for a special day of remembrance on September 15, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. The day will be led with compassion by our ministry team, which includes two priests and one lay woman who have walked with many on their spritual journeys. The one day retreat will include reflective talks, opportunities for personal and group prayer, simple rituals of healing, a hot meal, and the Sacrament of Anointing.
