2011-2012

"Are We There, Yet?"

Anyone who has been young or traveled with a youngster on a long drive has heard the question, “Are we there yet?”  As we look at our own journey of faith, we probably have asked many questions similar to the one above.

Even though we may not have all the answers we would like, our faith tells us that God does.  And as we look at the various accounts of journey we find in the Scriptures, we see that God has never left His people.  Whether it was the Israelites wandering in the desert before they reached the Promised Land, or the apostles proclaiming the Good News after they received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, God is always with us (Matthew 28:20), and will give us what we need along the way (Matthew 6:25-33).

There is a famous prayer by Thomas Merton that begins, “My Lord, God, I have no idea where I am going.  I do not see the road ahead of me.”  It ends with: “I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.”  Indeed, we are not alone on the journey!

During our days of retreat we will look at some of the questions we often ask, the wrong turns we sometimes take, and the many joys and surprises that come our way as we continue our journey with God.

Can't make your regular weekend?  Don't miss out!  There are other opportunities available to take advantage of the St. Paul's retreat experience!
